Worker gets highest health and safety exam score An employee of JD Wetherspoon has achieved the highest score in his Advanced Diploma in Health and Safety in the Workplace exam.

Out of all the entrants in the UK, John Hall, a retail auditor for the chain of pubs, was awarded first prize by the Royal Society for Public Health.

He commented: "It reflects well on the standards that myself and my colleagues strive for during our inspections at the pubs."

Mr Hall added that he is "really pleased" with his score in the test this year.

One of his roles in the company involves checking the health and safety standards in the company's sites and making certain that food hygiene is kept at a high standard.

Companies looking to ensure that food safety remains at a high level at their establishments should provide those involved in preparation with food workwear.

In related news, new technology to prevent wastage of food and increase safety by detecting when it is spoiling is set to be unveiled by the University of Manchester, reports Science Daily.
