Workers need to be aware of PPE policy, says expert Employers must ensure that their workforce is completely aware of any company policy relating to personal protective equipment (PPE) and other health and safety rules, an expert has said.

Tim Hill, an associate at business law firm Eversheds, called employee awareness "imperative" if firms are to protect themselves from the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007. He was writing in north-east newspaper the Journal.

"Responsibility for maintaining and updating the health and safety policy and ensuring that all employees are aware of any changes, must be taken seriously," he said.

Regulations covering health and safety relate to all aspects of the workplace, including personal protective equipment, its use and implementation.

The new Act, which is supported by the Health & Safety Executive despite it not being part of health and safety law, will be brought into force on April 6th, 2008.ADNFCR-1200-ID-18441747-ADNFCR
