Hotel firm prosecuted for safety failings A hotel chain has been fined after a women fell through a ceiling at one of their city centre hotels, fracturing her spine in the process, This is Bristol reported.

Appearing before Bristol Magistrates' Court, the firm pleaded guilty to neglecting their general duty to a visiting contractor.

The 50-year-old woman suffered two compressed fractures of her vertebrae and a fractured heel when she fell eight feet onto a concrete floor.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) came out in support of Lord Young's findings from his review of the operation of health and safety laws.

Further to this, the FMB also backed Lord Young's assessment of the compensation culture.

However, it has insisted that the opportunity to save taxpayers millions will be lost unless the proposals are applied to public sector construction procurement.

Official figures show the construction industry to be one of the most dangerous in which to work.

Britons are therefore advised to use appropriate workwear.ADNFCR-1200-ID-800135211-ADNFCR
