The CoSHH regulations 2002

The Health & Safety Executive have updated the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) Regulations and the Control of Asbestos at Work (CAW) Regulations.

The update to these Personal Protection Regulations includes requirements for the face fit testing of respirators.

Respiratory equipment can be divided into two classes:

Breathing Apparatus
Respirators (which include all tight fitting respirators such as full face masks, half masks and disposable respirators)

All forms of tight fitting respiratory equipment, including disposable respirators are covered by the guidelines.

To comply with this legislation many companies who have not previously had to carry out face fit testing now have to make arrangements to do so adhering to the protocols issued by the HSE and complying with the personal protection regulations.
