Arco's mission is to keep people safe at work. Our fourth generation, family owned business is committed to delivering that mission through our core values. By investing in our own people we are able to offer expert advice and support to our customers. Since 2008 we have trained over 150 Arco staff in a range of professional health and safety qualifications, including IOSH and NEBOSH certification. We will continue to provide training to our teams so they can offer practical support and sensible advice.

Together with our training and consultancy division, Arco Training and Consultancy, we offer the most comprehensive health and safety services available. Our team of highly qualified experts work in partnership with you to offer practical, hassle-free services to ensure that your work place is safe and compliant.

As market leaders we offer the widest range of PPE in the UK. Our National Distribution Center holds an impressive 22,000 products and our network of over 40 branches cover the UK and Ireland, ensuring you can get what you need when you need it. We are committed to the future of the business and our customers, so have invested heavily over the recent years in product innovation, our supply chain, the branch network, communities we operate within and most importantly, our people.

For the past four years we have achieved the Business in the Community (BitC) Percent Standard. This recognises companies that give financial support to their communities totalling at least 1 per cent of their pre tax profits. Although BitC no longer regulates this, Arco has still pledged to continue with this level of giving.

We are the leading member in our sector of the Ethical Trading Initiative, a ground-breaking alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations who work in partnership to improve the lives of workers across the globe.

Arco conducts regular Ethical Audits to ensure the ETI's code of ethics is being observed. Arco fully subscribes to the ETI's Nine Principles Base Code:

  • Employment is freely chosen
  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
  • Working conditions are safe and hygienic
  • Child labour shall not be used
  • Living wages are paid
  • Working hours are not excessive
  • No discrimination is practised
  • Regular employment is provided
  • No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed

Environmental sustainability is also really important to us and we have a number of ongoing projects to help us achieve our goals. These include initiatives to make product packaging improvements as well as waste and energy management schemes. For example 99% of packaging waste at the NDC is sent for recycling.

Our award winning distribution centre (NDC) is a landmark in Hull. With a huge 27,796sqm of storage space, we hold almost 22,000 products in stock. That's 50% more safety choices than any of our competitors.

Staying safe has never been easier, order online, by telephone, email, fax or post what ever is convenient for you. We offer a range of delivery services including same day, next day or day one for day three, even a bespoke on site delivery service can be arranged. We also have a Click & Collect service which allows you to order a product online and collect from a branch closest to you, sometimes up to an hour after ordering!

As well as providing over 22,000 products to the UK market, we also supply companies in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. Our products were shipped to over 100 countries last year!

In 2005 we established our first overseas office in Xiamen City, Southeast China, enabling a team to work directly with local manufacturers. Our investment in a fully staffed China office enables us to apply strict quality and e thical standards and allows us to source better quality product more effectively and at a lower cost.
